The hotel market in Paris today accounts for some 1,600 or so establishments, all categories included, ranging from budget to the 8 Parisian palaces. The new hotel rating system, which was applied throughout from July 2012, has continued to usher in changes in the structure of the hotel industry that have been observed since the beginning of the 1990s. The disappearance of the 0* category and the drop in the number of 1- and 2-star hotels have reduced the amount of budget accommodation available in Paris, whereas the amount of available upscale accommodation is in constant progression.
In the context of a diversified offer, the question is to find out who the hotel client base is and what the preferences of these different clients are in terms of accommodation. To find answers to these questions, we provide tools that make it possible to see where different types of hotels are located, and what their distribution is on a metropolitan scale, and also to identify the clientele that frequent these establishments.
