The survey of the number of cultural visitors, carried out each year by the PCVB, presents the data on visitor numbers at cultural sites: museums, monuments and spaces in Paris. For 2015, we looked at 67 sites and 91 temporary exhibitions.
Visitor numbers for these sites reached 74.7 million in 2015, a drop of 7.2% compared to 2014. As visitor numbers to the destination were impacted by the 2015 January and December attacks so were visitor numbers to cultural sites, notably in the first and final quarter of the year. Despite this context, the exhibitions ‘Tatoueurs, Tatoués’ at the Musée du quai Branly (702,138 visitors, exhibition lasting 530 calendar days), ‘Jeff Koons, the retrospective’ at the Centre Pompidou (650,045 visitors over 152 days) and ‘Pierre Bonnard. Painting Arcadia’ at the Musée d’Orsay (510,412 visitors over 124 days) were all a resounding success with more than 500,000 visitors.
